There are times in your life when you get hit with the realisation you’re a proper, all-grown-up, fully fledged adult.
It can be depressing, I know, to realise your childhood is gone, but it doesn’t have to be all bills, mortgages and responsibilities…
There are some very real benefits to being a proper adult, including the fact that you can stay out as late as you want without having to call your parents to ‘check-in’; you get to wear fancy adult clothes to work instead of a school uniform; and no one can tell you that ice cream is not an appropriate substitute for breakfast on special occasions.
I recently had one of these ‘adult’ moments when a watch I had been enviously eyeing off for months arrived on my doorstep.
With its clean white face, and vegetable tan leather strap, this beautiful watch from The Horse was a rather big deal for me. Besides the fact that I was now the proud owner of the most gorgeous timepiece I had ever laid my eyes on, this was the first time I had owned a watch since I was about 13 years old.
For some reason I made my mind up as a teenager that there was no point wearing a watch when you could just check your phone for the time. Sound reasoning when you’re a teen but not so subtle for checking the time in adult scenarios like the middle of a meeting or at brunch with friends.
While wearing a watch is a big deal for me, I’d love to know what makes you feel like an adult. As always, feel free to share in the comments below little ones.
