Introducing The Silk Bowerbird

It is an amazing thing to be able to watch as people you love achieve their goals. You understand the hard work that they have put in, the dedication and the passion. It can be incredibly inspiring to see them overcome challenges and shine.

I am lucky enough to be surrounded by some rather talented and hardworking people. To put it frankly, my loved ones are a bloody creative bunch and now I can add a fashion accessories designer to the mix.

My inspiring sister-in-law has just launched her own business. Just the thought of all the work it would take to start out on your own like that blows my mind, but she has taken it all in her stride.

Her company, The Silk Bowerbird, offers a range of beautiful travel accessories that combine the traditional art of hand-woven silk with contemporary design and practicality.

Passionate about travel, she and her husband were inspired to create the brand after travelling through Asia and learning of the work being done in Cambodia to revive the traditional craft of hand-woven silk. Proudly designed in Melbourne, she lovingly sketches all the designs and patterns used in the collections.

Being involved in the early stages, I was lucky enough to see some of the test products and patterns. I was in awe of the quality and range of products. As someone who regularly travels to see friends and family I could appreciate the traveller sets and jewellery purses. I also got to try the silk beads (which were awesome) and scarves.

So if you are interested in accessories, do yourself a favour and check out www.thesilkbowerbird.com.au and show your support for creative people who dare to dream.
