I’m always looking for a good excuse to escape the cold and head North during winter and the opportunity to take my son for his first visit of my family home was just too good to pass up!
We ended up spending two weeks on the Mid North Coast of NSW surrounded by family and friends. It was so lovely to be able to spend so much time with my parents and siblings and for them to enjoy some special time with the newest addition to our family.
We went for long walks with my family’s dogs over the creek and around the dams on my parents’ property. We took turns making big family dinners. On rainy days we stayed in and watched cartoons. We went out to a lighthouse and watched the whales making their way North. We spent up big on salami and chutneys at a local farmers market. And we had a big BBQ for family friends to get to meet our little guy.
It ended up being such a relaxing getaway with a really nice focus of family and the simple joy of spending time together. We always had such fun family holidays when we were growing up and it feels nice to know that the tradition will continue with our son.
What do you like to do on family holidays?
