Autumn is one of the most beautiful times to be in Canberra and the annual Canberra Balloon Spectacular is a big reason why.
This popular nine-day hot air ballooning festival is one of my favourite Canberra events. In recent years, when we lived closer to the launch site at Old Parliament House, we would walk over very early in the morning to watch the balloons rise with the sun.
Last year, our baby was just a few weeks old so we had to give it a pass. But this year we were so excited to take Aidan to his first Spectacular, and it didn’t disappoint.
More than 30 hot air balloons inflated and launched in perfect synchronicity, before floating gently above our heads on the light winds. It’s magical, it’s colourful and it’s so Canberra. This city knows how to put on a celebration!
