We recently enjoyed a relaxing and rather wonderful weekend away in the Blue Mountains with my family.
The Mountains are incredibly picturesque, with pretty little towns around every corner.
Just outside of Katoomba, Scenic World has a series of cable cars – the Scenic Cableway and Scenic Skyway – as well as vertical Railway through a cave and down the side of the mountain. For someone with a fear of heights, it was a little daunting but ended up being a whole lot of fun for the family.
Once you get down into the Valley there are a variety of walks you can try. And the scenery really is something else.
On Sunday we spent the afternoon enjoying Devonshire tea and exploring one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever visited. Set just past Katoomba and with stunning views over the Megalong Valley, the hotel is an iconic part of the Blue Mountains and has been running there since it opened in 1904.
That weekend, we also booked an incredible AirBnB in Wentworth Falls, enjoyed a few little shopping trips to Leura and ate some delicious food (check out Bakery Patisserie Schwarz!)
There were also some competitive games played of Go Fish, quoits and (family favourite) Pass the Pig.
There really is nothing quite like a lovely long weekend.
